The National Catalogue of NWS Products Catalogue is a web-enabled database system developed by the Office of Climate, Water, and Weather Services (OCWWS) for Entering, Searching, Displaying and Reporting of Official and Experimental Products.
The system is totally web-enabled, meaning that all of the necessary functions
to use and update the system are available via a web-browser without the need to install any program
on the user's computer.
The following functions are available.
1. View lists of Products (Official or Experimental).
2. View details (attributes and information) on an individual product.
3. Search for a product based on user specified criteria.
4. View a Sample of the product itself (or access links to the actual product if available).
5. View the associated Product Description Document for a product.
6. View reports of products in the database.
The system was developed using a Server Side scripting language, which means that all of the 'processing' is done on the server, NOT the user's computer. Cookies, Java, and Javascript are NOT used*; for privacy, security and more universal access (You do not need to have "Javascript" or ActiveX enabled on your browser).
*NOTE: Javascript and style sheets are Not used in the Catalogue application itself, however, access to some of the features on NWS web template (such as NWS site map, Organization or NWS search engine) requires Javascripting / enabling Style Sheets to work properly.
For ease of use, most of the 'screens' will have the same "Menu" at the bottom of the page, which contain links to the associated Module or function.
To use the system, simply place your mouse or pointing device cursor over the desired function and click on the link.
While using the system, the standard browser keys and functions work as
expected.
For example, you may set or save bookmarks, use the "Back" or "Print" features,
etc.
