Experimental Probabilistic Quantitative Precipitation Forecast
Approved for Experimental Implementation
Data Mining Tool
Outreach / Education
All Forecast Regions
The provision and use of PQPF (Probabilistic Quantitative Precipitation Forecast) information in the forecast production process will provide customers and partners with a potential range of forecast accumulated precipitation, a capability that is not currently possible with existing deterministic QPF (Quantitative Precipitation Forecast) products issued by WFOs. This information will allow for better communication of forecast uncertainties and provide more effective impact-based decision support services for communities sensitive to flood threats. The target audiences for this experimental product are customers and partners such as emergency managers, state and local officials including School Superintendents, DOT, media and the general public.

Approved with the following conditions: 1. Will want to see a summary of comparison of best practices to Prob Snow Rollout. 2. Will want to see an implementation plan for national use if this is viable, rathen than hosting at each WFO.
