Outreach / Education
The National Digital Forecast Database (NDFD) is our signature dissemination method for weather forecast elements. Weather Forecast Offices depict weather variables in gridded format which when ingested into NDFD, provide both digital and graphical data to our users. Providing snow level in these formats via NDFD and NDGD will support IDSS, GIS data services, and other applications such as the hourly weather graph display on local WFO point and click pages. Our users will be able to take this digital data and apply it to various platforms enabling improved decision making in real time. Adding the official snow level grid will enhance the services provided by the Winter Weather Program and further improve the National Weather Service’s digital data platform. Increased third party dissemination to users will also benefit the Nation’s decision making capability before, during and after winter storms.
