All Forecast Regions
The Helicopter Emergency Medical Services (HEMS) Tool is an interactive online display that can overlay multiple fields of interest: ceiling, visibility, flight category, winds, relative humidity, temperature, icing, satellite, radar (base and composite reflectivity), G-AIRMETs, SIGMETs, METARs, TAFs, and PIREPs. The HEMS Tool is an operational product provided by the Aviation Weather Center (AWC). The experimental product will be an enhanced version of the HEMS Tool. Program (GLMP) -- GLMP has 2.5 km resolution; NCVA has a 5 km resolution -- GLMP is an operational product with support from NCEP -- GLMP is a contributing member of the National Blend of Models and fits within the NWS common operating picture -- LAMP Ceiling and Visibility forecast is currently used on the Graphical Forecasts for Aviation -- NCVA is an independent, stand-alone product at AWC that does not align with the common operating picture. This product will degrade as it is not built to run on AWC’s updated infrastructure and with the new GOES satellites. - Add hourly GLMP forecasts of Ceiling and Visibility out to 6 hours - Improve user interface -- Change time slider from mouse hover to always visible -- Update Map Options/Configurations Menu - Include Mesonet observations - Include Probability of Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) conditions and VisFog satellite imagery.
