Description
The National Weather Service (NWS) is collecting comments on proposed changes to its Tsunami Advisory products. This proposal is part of the broader Hazard Simplification effort within NWS. NWS currently issues Tsunami Advisory products to alert stakeholders to lower-level tsunami events that may pose a danger to coastal communities. In some situations, Advisory products may be misunderstood as to what the Advisory level means to coastal populations, and the actions that need to be taken. It is proposed that a new way of identifying the danger may reduce some of the confusion surrounding these lower-level products. Therefore, the NWS is soliciting comments on potential new product options as follows: Option A: Low Level Warning with Tsunami in Header Option B: Marine Hazard without Tsunami in Header Option C: Marine Hazard with Tsunami in Header
